Hope you all have a wonderful time and enjoy this experience to the fullest. Wish my son could put me in his suitcase and take me along. Guess I will have to settle for a magnet from this awsome trip.

Hey Windy. Your little boys and their daddy miss you, but they are doing fine. Hope you are having fun.

I found this website about the university in Jiamusi. I am only guessing that it is the same place your are actually visiting. I though other visitors to this blog would find it interesting.

I have talked to my wife a few times now. She says they are a little behind schedule due to the delayed flight to Jiamusi and are going to go to Beijing one day later than planned. Other than that it is going well.

Thanks for your comment, Matt.
I'm so happy they arrived safely, and all is well. I'm very excited for all of you, and hope you are having a wonderful experience. Lots of love to all.

I heard from my daughter,Amy Stoddard yesterday. She said they will be flying back to Beijing today. They haven't had any internet access, and all is going well. there was an earthquake in Beijing this morning. Has anyone heard about how our group is doing? It happened a few hours ago

Matt, have you heard from your wife
since the earthquake hit?

I just talked with Weber State University's Allied Health Department. I was told that Yaz called this morning and said that they are in Bejing and everyone is OK. They will be leaving Bejing tomorrow rather than today. Whew. I feel a lot better.

This is Bobby and Dalores Gibbs children we are concerned and if anyone hears anymore please post it so that we can be sure that they are ok....

She is fine. They didn't even feel the quake. They are not in Beijing now. They are heading there in the morning. Their flight leaves about 8:35PM MDT (10:35AM China time) and takes about 2hrs. Since the quake was felt heavily in Beijing and Shanghai they will probably feel some aftershocks.

Thanks for all your comments.
I feel relieved that they are all
OK. I appreciate the good news and feel so bad for the people in the earthquake area and the great loss of lives there. I sent Amy with an international calling card, and she said that it doesn't work there. They also have no internet access. I heard that all is going well in Jiamusi, and they rolled out the red carpet for them and have been very respectful and gracious to them. They are having a wonderful experience, and it was such good news to hear they are all ok. Thanks for all your comments. It really helps worried parents. Merialice

We're Back! Everyone made it back safe and sound. We all had a ton of fun, and learned a lot, but are so glad to be back home.
If anyone from the '07 China study abroad group is reading this, I want you to know that I tried to say hello to all of your students. I had many of them ask me why you guys didn't come back, but I think that they understood that you had other obligations. They had a lot of fun getting to know the '08 students this year too.
